Dirt, is kids' best friend

No matter how loud you yelled at them, it's just illogical to stop them from doing what they love most when we're back at kampung tok.

No matter rain or shine, nothing can stop them.

Glad that we still have a place called kampung where the kids can be themselves and living life to the fullest.

It's THORtastic!

Cz22 just reminded me that I forgot to blog about this.
About the recent film THOR- The Dark World.
About this man!
Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

No, not Loki.
But this guy, Fandral.
Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

What?
U don't know who?
Oh you have got to be kidding me!!
Fandral is one of Thor's ally and is part of the Warrior Three.
Have a closer look.
Can you guess why I am drop dead hyper?
Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

It's Zachary Levi!
The Chuck guy.
Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

Going fully blonde here, in THOR!
Yeah, seriously, I wouldn't have noticed him if hubby didn't pointed it out to me!
Which then I ended up focusing on Fandral more than Thor, and wishing for his scene to appear longer.

Can't wait for the Blueray to come out. Then I can pause, and drool.

As light as a bug

This could work well as a tagline for this limited edition Longchamp le Pliage bag, the Bug collection.
Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos
Bought in year 2010, this was my very first Longchamp. I have to admit, it was kinda late for me to be jumping onto the le pliage bandwagon.
The le pliage design was indeed too plain for me to be attracted to. Hence, when my dear friend nini bought her Bug le pliage in small size, I knew I had to have it too, in large size.

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

The bugs then bite my sister and mom, making them both wanting the le pliage. Mom bought the brown, while sis bought the red.
And I just can't resist the fuchsia. What? Who was it that said they are plain bags? Can't you see how yummy these colours are? Shessshh

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

Ohhh and then the Darshan collection were released. Such a beauty. Big bird must be jealous of me. Bwahahaha

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

Err.. So I bought another Darshan. Not my fault. It's fuchsia!

The thing that I love most about le pliage is that it is foldable when not in use, saving storage space. And yet it can become completely roomy when you need it to.

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

Because it can be kept flat, it has become the bag of choice during my recent overseas trip. And due to that similar reason, I bought the Darshan yellow, twice!

Hmm.. That reminds me, I may need to start doing my handbag inventories.

"Moist" is my middle name

But you can call me Buttermilk cake, hehehe..
Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

I was having a stressful day and needed to calm myself down last night. As I vet through the fridge, I saw the carton of buttermilk that's about to expire.
So, waste not!

Here's a very simple recipe I managed to google up from the net.

2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
Pinch of salt
1 cup sugar
125gm butter (half of the 250gm bar)
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 cup buttermilk

Mix well the flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt, put them aside.
Beat butter with sugar.
Add in the eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix till fluff.
Add in half of the flour mix, and mix till smooth. Add in half of the buttermilk and mix till smooth. Continue with the remaining.
Bake at 180degrees for 30 mins or till brown.
U can use any type of baking tins, this time I'm using bundt pan.
Oh by the way, you can add in a spoonful of lemon zest and lemon juice into the batter above for more lemony flavour.

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

Lastly, drizzle the lemon sauce on the cake after it has been cooled on the wire rack.
Some suggests to lightly poke with toothpicks all over the top part of the cake so that the lemon sauce would go deep inside the cake.

To make the lemon sauce, just heat up 1/3 cup of squeezed lemon juice and 2 tbsp sugar, till thickened. Well, actually, the sugar part is quite subjective. Taste the sauce and add in according to your preference.

I opt to use the star-shaped sprinkles this time just to spice up the boring look.
Plus the fact that thats the only sprinkles I have left! LoL!

Have fun baking!

Admitting the flaw

It breaks my heart.
But I have to accept the flaw.
My eldest son needs prescription glasses.
Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

We took him to the ophthalmologist and get a precise prescription for his first glasses.
Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

Made me wanna cry.
Looking at him all grown up.
"Wow! Mommy! I'm seeing HD!"
He's happy.
Thats all what matters.

Kampung Croissant

Special blogpost for nadiahkhair.

Today my grandma, TokNah made this special tea dish which we called it as "kampung croissant"
Well, ok.
I lied
My nenek called it something else which if mentioned here, I might get banned. Haha

It's very difficult to get the recipe from her because she just threw this and that and wallaaah, done!

But with the help of 4 of my aunties, I managed to get this recipe:
3 cups of flour
2 tsp of mauripan
1 cup of water
2 tbsp of sugar
2 tbsp of planta (margerine/ butter)

Steps
1. Mix the mauripan with water
2. Next, mix the sugar
3. Then add in flour
4. Kneed the dough (add water using spoon to firm the dough if needed)
5. Add in planta
6. Kneed some more
7. Set aside for 10 minutes for the dough to kembang (rise)
8. Made a circle and cut in half like pacman shape
9. Fried and best serve hot!

Grandma said this mix can be used to make
1. Kampung croissant
2. Baked at 170degrees for 25 minutes for roti bakar
3. Steamed for 25 minutes for roti kukus
4. Fried and cut half to make mini sambal burgers
5. Donuts
6. Rolled onto hotdogs before fried or baked and you'll get those hotel pastries!

Wallahhh!
Aish loved it.
Can't wait to give it a try soon.
Maybe I'll add in the hotdogs.. Yummss

Late night chores

My dear children, and loveable husband,
While you were all soundly sleeping at this hour, on the comfy bed, snoring deep into the night, please know that mommy is still wide awake...

... folding and storing all your freshly washed and dried clothes.
Finally getting all these 5-laundry batches sorted out within 2 hours.

So please do your best to not mess up your drawers and cupboards when you pick your clothes because mommy is way too tired to sort them all out.
Or else, I will make you sleep inside your cupboard.

Nite nite!

Missoni under my nose

Natural talent.
Thats what this is.
Never in my life, I showed pics of Missoni prints.
Let alone owning one.

So when Arif came home showing his nursery workbook, I went all giddy with this Missoni Junior in the making.
He just loves colours!
There aren't a single page of his colouring workbook having less than 5 colours.

Why haven't I noticed this before?
Well, to be honest, last year, he wasn't all this creative.
Check out his avatar giraffe.

And overly-sun-tanned chicken.

I need to start paying more attention to my kids art work.
Who knows, they might be the next Picasso ?

Please email me if you're interested to purchase their artwork.
Starting price is a thousand dollar a piece.
You better get them now, coz it'll turn to a million dollars when they get famous and I can no longer help you then.

May you rest in peace

A dear friend and colleague of mine has just passed away at 3.50am today.
She left behind a husband, 3 beautiful children, loving siblings, relatives and friends.

Al-fatihah to Nur Azlina Zahari.
May Allah place your soul among his favourites and may Allah gives the strength to your family.
Aminn
