Our sacrifice

..for the recent Eid ul-Adha.

Date : 17th November 2010
Venue : Kampung Tanjung Batu, Nenasi Pekan Pahang
Event : Eid ul-Adha 1431 Hijri
It's another huge religious holiday celebration for muslim all around the world, after the Eid ul-Fitr.
Eid ul-Adha marks the end of hajj season, the annual muslim pilgrimage to mecca.
The history behind this day is to commemorate the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim a.s to sacrifice his son Prophet Ibrahim a.s as an act of obedience to Allah, before Allah intervened to provide him with a ram (male sheep) to sacrifice instead.

Each sacrificed meat is divided into three parts to be distributed to others.
The family (sacrificing it) retains one third of the share, another third is given to relatives, friends and neighbors, and the other third is given to the poor & needy.

Not many muslim knows this but the merit (pahala) of sacrifice (qurban) is that for each hair-fur on the animal, and for every drop of blood shed by it, shall cleanse each sin (dosa) of the muslim.

Islam is very tolerant in costing aspect as it is set that each sacrificed animal must be shared by seven people.
If we take for example in my case, the cow was RM 2300, divide by 7, resulting in RM328 each muslim.
And that is why we are encourage to sacrifice every year because it only takes a Ringgit a day to save up for one seventh of the cow cost.

I'll spare all the gory pictures of the slaughter, as it is not meant for the faint-hearted.
So, it'll be just the family piccies.

We opt for black and white theme.
But to be honest, it was actually a last minute decision as I flipped through the kids wardrobe and found several Thoub, a single piece dress that covers the whole body, that were given to us by relatives recently performing umrah.
And mine was bought by my mom during her recent umrah trip.
So, wallaaaa !! Check out our Arabian look !
Well, just me, and the kids anyways.. haha..
Others were pretty much sticking to the Malaysian style!

Pool Drifter

Introducing, the terrifying swimming pool drifter !

Well, it's outside of the swimming pool drifter to be exact.

Coz he still not use to the fact that such a car-looking-thing-with-steering belongs in the water..

..and instead enjoying every minute dragging it around.

Maybe I just opt for a normal looking floater, huh?

Night Buddies

Apart from their smellly-soft-cuddly pillows, these are the must-be-nearby-bed buddies.
Amin's plush alligator..
Or is it a crocodile? I'm still confused.
Arif on the other hand has too many buddies to consider, but tonight, he picked Woody.
Nite nite my boys..

He's now 6 years old

Amin turns 6 years old last month, 30th November to be exact.
I am still in denial about him growing up.
But I guess I have to suck it up and quit being a baby because he is going to Primary School Standard 1 next week, whether I like it or not, there's nothing that I can do to stop the time.
It actually worries me so much on how he would survive in the real school.
I mean, born at the end of the year, makes him the youngest of his age.
Even at nursery, the teachers said that he's a late bloomer, in reading, writing, memorising etc..
Once again, I'm having this feeling of maybe I should quit my job and become a full-time housewife so that I can be as tentative to him as much as possible.
But I doubt that we can afford living under hubby's own salary, for now.. sigh..
Back to the original topic, this time he wanted the Ben10 Ultimate Swampfire.
Same like previous years before, we took pictures of his favourite character and special-ordered for it to be printed on Secret Recipe Brownies.
Last year's was this; Transformers Skids and Mudflap.
Sorry coz I forgot to snap pics of the cake after it was done because that cake was for Amin's birthday celebration at his nursery.
This year, Amin's celebrated his birthday THREE times to be exact.
The first was during the Eid ul-Adha holiday, when we purposely brought back a chocolate pandan cake to kampung, so that my grandma could join in the fun, together with my other relatives living in Kuantan / Pekan Pahang.
The second one was celebrated at his nursery, with the Ultimate Swampfire Cake.
And the third one was celebrated here, at home, with relatives in town, and favourite buds, Adam and Alif.
We also gone out to dinner at Chilli's, together with the inlaws, and if taking that into account, it sums up to FOUR times the celebration - with the molten chocolate cake!

Thanks to everybody for the warm wishes, great gifts and fabulous support.
Amin means the whole world to me and I can't praise Allah enough for everything.
We are blessed.
Indeed.

Another "Poor Gingy" post

It's like dejavu.
I just read it on Irene's blog and the next thing I heard was Amin asking his dad if the gingerbread-man really edible.
As far as I can recall, we weren't watching any of the Shrek films at that time.
Hence it really baffled me to see this coming.
Maybe it's the current in thing for the kids these days, who knew!
So hubby brought home these two gingerbread-cookie.
Not as huge and colourful as Irene's but it'll do just fine, thank you.

Oh, the one's on the very left is actually a plush toy which of course, NOT edible - but just to note that Amin almost took a bite out of it.. LOL!

Took Irene's tip and served it to dip with fresh milk.

The result, none of my kids liked it!
They took one bite, made a face and off to the living room sofa.
As for me, I love it !!
I really like the taste of ginger cinnamon dipped in fresh milk. Yummyy!
Hun, next time, do not hesitate to bring home the whole gingerbread-house for me, ok.. Hehe

When Boys meet Cars

Since I'm on a long holiday leave now, I have more free times on my hand to keep up with backdated events.
No matter how past they were, I will put it up here on the blog because that is something that I really wanted to do.
Because this blog's main purpose of existence is for ME to keep in memory of things/ events/ happenings in my life, coz I no longer print out photos and make a collage in albums, no longer write in diaries, don't even have a journal either.
Ok, enough on the mumblings, and lets move on.

Date : 10th Dec 2010
Location : PWTC
Event : KLIMS 2010
This was indeed the long awaited-anticipated outing of the century.
Me and hubby decided to bring along Amin's best buds - Adam and Alif, relatives from my mom's side.
Arif is included too, of course.
We bought the family package entrance that consists of 2 parents + 5 kids = RM30.
I was solely outnumbered by the 5 boys (plus hubby)!
Oh well, in this case, the whole place was swarming with boys anyways! LOL
I have no idea of cars/ auto mobile in any sense.
But it was indeed an experience and I really enjoyed taking pics of them boys going ga-ga over their toys.
Very impressed with our national car manufacturer, Proton for their revolutionised concept and futuristic take.
They even did a design competition and proud to say that we do have such talented citizens exist.
Initially I thought we'll be having a hard time to handle all four boys age 10, 7, 6 and 2.
But boy, was I wrong!
They are all very VERY well behaved and stuck around together like glue!
Oh thank god that they get along tremendously, coz I couldn't imagine what would happened if they ran off in separate direction at one time. However would hubby and I be able to split to 4!

The excitement increased the moment we saw, this.
It's the Yellow Canary Camaro similar to the ones that Bumblebee - Transformers transformed to.
At this moment, not only the kids, but even I was stretching me neck up high among the crowds to search for the robot itself.
Which to our dismay, it's not displayed in the same hall as this Camaro - darrnnn it !!
Ohhh the suspense was killing me!!
And to be honest, at this point of time, none of us were able to focus at any other cars in display because we had our mind, body and soul, set to see Bumblebee.
And every second of the moment was worth the wait.
As we entered the next hall, to find him standing proudly there.
Ohhhhh thank you HASBRO for bringing Bumblebee to us!
The boys and I were really happy to get upclose with it.
Awesome! Absolutely pure awesome!
We were so hyped about Camaro and Bumblebee, the last attraction which was the Batman's Batmobile, just seem so lame to us.
Especially when it was merely just cardboard set up.. urrgghhh !
After all the walking and gawking and swooning and picture posing, the most logical and best thing to do next was none other than, eat ice cream!
Kudos to Walls for setting up booth in between the halls.
Wonder what they'll be displaying in KLIMS next year.
We're definitely not gonna miss it!

School Uniform - checked!

Ever met somebody who would travel 4 hours up north to Penang just to buy their kid's school uniform?
That sounds like us!
Hubby insisted that we buy all Amin's school uniforms and shoes at his old time shop located here at Penang Road.
According to him, the quality is superb and unbelievably different from others.
The whole road spans with similar type shops- selling school uniforms, so, don't be mistaken as the name to look for is HinG Lee.
The shop is complete with everything a parent needs for their kid's-kick-start-schooling-days.
From all range of uniform sizes, types, colours..
..to variety of shoe selections stacked up to the shop's ceiling.

And check out the old-school belts !! Aaaawwww.. I missed out on this great invention! At only RM2.50 .. Believe it ! Haha
Now, up next is the washing and ironing phase..
Yikesss.. Me definitely not looking forward to that!

I vomited after watching Tron : Legacy

And that is NOT literally speaking!

Seriously, this was indeed the very first time in my entire life, I actually vomited my entire dinner, at precisely 2.30am, on our way back home, after the movie ended.
So, what happened?
First and foremost, apologies for all the Tron fan out there, for what I am about to write, but everybody has their own cup of tea, right?
As thrilling-action packed-long awaited-sequel this may be, to me, I regret every moment of watching it.
Ok, maybe not all, as I was indeed dead-impressed by the Tron-like-Disney Castle intro, though.
I'm blaming the all-black-scene.
I'm blaming the white-blue-ish neons.
I'm blaming the orange-red-ish neons.
I'm blaming the lengthy dialogues with such lame effort to insert even the slightest tiny speck of humour!
And the 3D effect, completely worsen my headache.
My head started to pound as I reached the 30th minutes of darkness.
The cinema was already dark in the first place, and the movie was filled with dark blue-grey-black tones, with glowing neons and glowing faces.
And the 3D made it even worse, coz the neon stripes looked brighter than average shot.
It just way tense to my eyesight, and I couldn't take it anymore, especially when most of the time, the  particular scenes were statically maintained for some period to cater to the ultimately long dialogues.
Even one white-background scene which I thought I'd be glad to see, turned out terrible due to the boring script!
After all said and done, being a fair person as always, I will review on the movie, despite the fact that I hate it, of course.
Tron : Legacy is a sequel to a 1982 film Tron.
Produced by Walt Disney Pictures, directed by Joseph Kosinski, with Jeff Bridges reprises his roles as Kevin Flynn and Clu, while Bruce Boxleitner reprises his roles as Alan Bradley and Tron.
Garrett Hedlund portrays Flynn's now-adult son, Sam.
And introducing Olivia Wilde as the heroin.

Let me refresh you on the 1982 film whereby Kevin and his best buds Alan has discovered the grid, a digital world where human get to live in it and their goal was to create a better world than the real-world.
To cut short, at the end of the movie, only Alan made it out of the grid.
In this Tron : Legacy, Sam - Kevin's son, being genetically tech-expert like his father, found the entrance to the grid and wallaaaa, there he goes discovering that his father's clone - Clu has taken over the grid and form an army to take over the real-world as Clu discovered that the portal works both ways.
Mr. Flynn goes into hide out as it seems that his disc - the thingy on his back, is the key to open the portal to real-human-world, which located on top of the Tron city whereby Clu's army in control.
And to cut short on this Tron : Legacy, the plot was for Sam and Kevin to get back home, and defeat Clu on his quest to enter the human-world.
So, if you're one of the lucky people in the world that hardly ever get headache in your entire life, by all means, please, go and enjoy the movie.
Just get the aspirin ready.
Or in my case, a vomit bag.

Public announcement

We're otw back to Penang and just to inform others that there's a road accident at Plus highway km314, right after Tapah.

A lorry carrying chickens is currently blocking the fast lane,
resulting in a slight traffic jam.

But rest assured, it's clear road up ahead onwards.

Have a safe journey, and great weekend to ya all!

Better make sure next year WE actually go someplace, ok!
Hmmm..

Missing him sooo much..

Chuck is currently having a break now in US, due to the Holiday season.
So, no more episodes for me to watch.
It's already been more than 2 weeks.
I've already watched the rerun of all 10 episodes of Season 4 and I can't take it anymore!
I miss him too much!

Oh thank god for this song!
Now I can play it over and over again, until hubby vomited or episode 11 aired, whichever comes first. LOL

(TERRIFIED by KATHARINE MCPHEE ft. ZACHARY LEVI)
You, by the light
Is the greatest find
In a world full of wrong
You're the thing that's right

Finally made it through the lonely to the other side

You said it again my heart's in motion
Every word feels like a shooting star
I'm at the edge of my emotions
Watching the shadows burning in the dark
And I'm in love and I'm terrified.
For the first time and the last time
In my only life.

And this could be good
It's already better than that
And nothing's worse than knowing
You're holding back
I could be all that you needed
If you let me try

You said it again my hearts in motion
Every word feels like a shooting star
I'm at the edge of my emotions
Watching the shadows burning in the dark
And I'm in love and I'm terrified
For the first time in the last time
In my only life

I only said it cause I mean it
I only mean it cause it's true
So don't you doubt what I've been dreaming
Cause it fills me up and holds me close
Whenever I'm without you

You said it again my hearts in motion
Every word feels like a shooting star
Watching the shadows burning in the dark

And I'm in love and I'm terrified
For the first time in the last time
In my only life

Yeah, who knew he can sing, right??
Thanks to McPhee for giving my heartthrob a chance!
Watch this cool webisode of the duet in making.... love it !! awesome!!
