Man down, man down !!

It's BOY down, to be exact.
My soon-to-be 3 year old Arif is now down with HFMD.
What on earth is that?
It's the Hand, Foot & Mouth Disease.
We noticed these spots last night but I thought it was just mosquito bites.
So, I told hubby to put Mopiko ointment on it.
He didn't developed any fever and no loss of appetite either.
That's why we couldn't suspect this earlier.
Until this morning, as I was about to change his diaper, I noticed the same spots like, on his palm.
It's obvious.
Something is not right.
We diverted our nursery-route to the nearest clinic.
And no doubt, quarantine is the word enhanced by Dr. Johari.
So now, Arif is officially (and happily) on nursery-break, for the next 7 days.
Hope nothing serious turns out later.
Wish him well !!

Little sister, not little anymore

So, yeah, another backdated entry.
Oh thank god my family not reading my blog.
Or else, they'll sure to rub the word procrastinate onto my face, period !
So, it's just me and my quest to keep track of the events in my life, and to do justice to these pictures that I took! LOL

The Date : 10th January 2011

The Event : Ijah's Birthday Celebration
The Venue : Kiku Zakura, Tropicana City Mall, Petaling Jaya
This Japanese restaurant located inside the new Tropicana City Mall, PJ, seemed to be quiet and not a well known spot at all.
I'm concluding that based on the number of people there, which my 2year old Arif can easily count.
The ambience however was very calming.
With shiny wooden floors.
And the water wall at the entrance.

However, I would never come here again.
And would never recommend this place to anybody either.
The selection were limited, and the sushi were made in such small sizes.
And the thing that ticked us the most is that the price is ridiculously high!
With the same amount of food, the price almost tripled to the ones at Sushi King or Sakae Sushi.
Oh, by the way, the waitress wearing kimono, were all Indonesian and can't speak English.
You either just speak in bahasa to them, or point to the menu.

Anyway, thank god we have the lovely and delicious strawberry jelly coated cake, bought by yours truly, moi, ehemm..
Ok, so, I lied a little.
There was actually something good about this place.
Since there weren't many people in it, we the kids can simply sing out loud to their hearts content, after happily made noise and played with trucks, and jumped onto each other, without us adults feeling embarrassed !
Bwahahahhaha..
Despite the food, and the place, it was a fun family celebration indeed.
Happy 26th Birthday Chujah!!

No worries, Betty is here !

What would you do when your son said "Mommy, can we bake cookies, today?"

As confident as a mother should be, I said "Sure!"

So, we then headed on to the kitchen.
Placed an egg and a pack of butter on the counter.
And called out, "Betty !"

Hooray!
Don't you just luurrvv the instant cookie mix?
Bwahahahha..
Ok, sorry..
I suck big time in cooking, so, sue me.
But I'll do my very best not to disappoint my kids.
Hence, I always keep my eyes open for the best instant mix.
And this is one of them.
In approximately less than 10 minutes, we already had the first batch of cookies in the oven.
Preheated the oven and proceeded with the baking for just less than 10 minutes, at 190° C.
Wallaaa!
Looks soo yummy but I don't like the way it failed to keep a cookie shape, like the picture on the cover.
Definitely a bluff!
So, what did I do next?
Used the paper cups.

Thanks to my sister's remaining cup cakes paper cups.
Now, my cookies looks decently pretty.
Just like a kuih raya.. haha..
Oh well, whatever that works!

A Sporty Graduation

As I was about to save some files on my laptop, it suddenly prompted low disk space.
Then only I realised that I have tons of pictures in here, transferred from the camera since last year.
Knowing that it will take me a huge effort to look back at them after I transferred all into the external hard drive,  I figured I'm gonna make it my target this month to post all important events that I have failed to timely blog about, before I transferred the pictures out of this laptop.

So, here goes..

Event : Salsabiila Sports Carnival & Graduation Day
Date : 14th November 2010
Location : Singgahsana Hotel, Petaling Jaya.

Salsabiila holds this Graduation ceremony at the end of each year which rotates between Sports Day and Performance Day.
And this last year was the Sports Day.
As for Amin, this was an extra special event because he officially graduated from the nursery.

Yup, believe it when I say that Salsabiila not kidding when it comes to graduation ceremony.
Just like the real university, complete with scroll, robe, hat and pre photo shoot session !

The event started as early as 8.30am, with just like any other sports day, to begin with the marching by all sports-house.
There were 4-coloured-sports  house; blue (both Amin & Arif), red, green and yellow.
The marching theme for this year was "Free Palestine".

Here's the Blue team's banner..
.. with Amin and team-mates preparing to march..
Yellow and Red team standby to join..
.. whilst the Green team, awaits..
If I had known better, I would say that these children are fanatics and the concept is beyond their reasoning.
But let the truth be told that it's actually very fun to participate in such themed events and the kids really had fun dressing up to the cause.
After the marching, the fun continued with kids running around doing aerobics-dance--with-pompom-plus-marshal-art kinda choreographic.
Hmm.. very hard to interpret what was actually happening as I was busy laughing out loud seeing Amin doing this moves.
Then only the sporting activity begins.
Amin participated in several events, more like a mini decathlon.
My 2 year old Arif was not excluded too from the fun.
He participated in the lollipop event, whereby all 2 year olds lined up and run/ walk/ crawl/ however way they like, towards a plate filled with lollipop, took one, and stick it onto a sponge case.
Sounds simple, aye?
Well, for a 2 year old, it was not!
With kids screaming, crying, clinging to mommies, it was the most difficult game to conduct !!
But I am so proud for Arif who although looked at lost, he managed to walk towards the plate, hold onto a lolly drop it onto the case.
And the reward was that he got to eat it afterwards. Yeay!
We then reached the next agenda, which was the Graduation ceremony.
All 6 years old were called to the backstage to put on the robe and hat.
Lined up in a row, ready to take the scroll from the principal of Salsabiila and the honoured guest was Ustaz Ahmad Tarmizi, the winner for the Season 4 Akademi Al-Quran.

I'm totally a sucker for this moment.
It's hard for me to be happy and at the same time realised that my boy is now stepping into the real school environment.
He is growing up so fast and I am thankful to Allah for all the motherhood experiences and moments that I have gone through.
Absolutely priceless.

Beware ! Bag snatchers on the road !

This post is dedicated to my dear friend G-ya, who were robbed while driving.
She was at the traffic light stop, at the intersection near Eastin Hotel junction, Sunday 6th March 2011, time 1300 hours.
As she was waiting for red traffic light to turn green, a motorcyclist came to her passenger side, smashed the side window and grabbed her handbag, which was initially placed on the passenger seat.
According to G-ya, she noticed this motorcycle from about a kilometre away and they honked while briefly overtaking.
But they slowed down and G-ya overtook them as they reached the traffic light.
It happened so quickly as the motorcycle appeared beside her car and his passenger was the one smashing the window with a rock and snatched the purse.
Even the car beside hers failed to notice the thieves.

Poor G-ya.
There's nothing that she can do at that time, because in reflex, she (and I believe anybody would too) turned her face away from the smashing glasses, making it impossible for her to get a good look on the thieves and the motorcycle plate.

I know that we've heard this incident several times before, but the truth is, only when it actually happened to ourselves/ loved ones, then we will start to be cautious and alert.

Therefore, before it's too late, reminder to all of us drivers, to place our handbags on the foot area instead of on the seat.
At least it will make it harder for the thieves to see and reached for it.
Due to my obsession with handbags, since the foot area is generally dirty due to it being our footwear placement, it is advisable to at least layered it up with a plastic bag.
Plastic bag is better than newspaper because newspaper prone to smudge your purse with the black printed ink.
This way we can protect our belongings, at the same time making sure it is clean too.

Hmm.. is it logic to keep a knife in the car, in case this incident happened, we could slash the thief's hand?
Or is that too cruel? huh!

Comparing woman and tea bag ?

I was reading a magazine a few hours ago and this quote really caught my attention.
A woman is like a tea bag.
You never know how strong she is, until she gets into hot water.
- Eleanor Roosevelt

I couldn't agree more.

But in my case, after a year of handling problematic system processing, I believe I'm already very immune to the hot water.
More likely to go bonkers and start talking to the tea bags! LOL

Amin's first masterpiece

My eldest son is not the type who enjoys writing, drawing, colouring or whatever related to holding a pencil.
He's more into holding the stylus of NintendoDS, the nunchuck of NintendoWii, the controller of PS3, tapping the iPad and playing with LEGOs.
So when he suddenly sat quietly, picked the pencil, drew a picture and coloured it, this is a must for me to blog about!
Presenting, my new wallpaper.
Ta-daaaa!
