Turning 60, with pride.

Happy 60th birthday, Ayah !

Someone to look forward for.. is..

Mesut Oezil
This 21-year old German midfielder has really made the headlines..
Well, not much about him on the news, but definitely caught my attention !
Seriously, I admit that I don't know the players names, especially those FIFA newbies, but as I sat there watching the match between Germany and England, I was very impressed to see how fast this guy ran on the field!  It's like nobody can outrun him!  He was seriously quick!
Although he didn't score any goal, I definitely vote him as the Man-of-the-Match, instead of Thomas Mueller.
It's unfair that the press didn't credit Oezil as much as he deserves, because it was obvious that he was the heart of the game..
..the one that handsomely dribbled the ball across the field..
..the one that left the English players chasing shadows..
..the one that skillfully passed the ball over for his teammates to score..

Ohhh.. he's definitely going to make the upcoming Quarter-final against Argentina, a match to remember !

Am absolutely looking forward for that !

Not just bread

We're almost fooled by the name.
It really is not just a bakery.

If I'm not mistaken, The Loaf opened its first branch at Langkawi, followed by Pavilion KL, then 101 Boulevard, Puchong, and the latest at Empire, Subang Jaya.

From the logo, we could easily assumed that it is a bakery.

But behold, the ambiance is more than meets the eye.

With plush seats..

..and fresh table decor.

People said that this Bakery & Bistro franchise is owned by our beloved Tun Dr.Mahathir Mohamad, but seriously, there's no picture of him, anywhere.
After stretching our neck looking for some indication that this place is his, we finally found it, in the menu.

We would have tried the signature breakfast set, but since it's dinner time, we had to order this, beef stroganoff.

It's a Russian dish of sautéed pieces of beef served with delicious sour cream sauce, mushroom and broccoli .
And when I say beef, you will not be disappointed, indeed, it's all beef inside there !

We also had the seafood pasta, very rich with prawns.

Slurped them down with fruit juices..

..and tiramisu as dessert.

Almost lost it

I'm having a hard time this week.
Yeah, too many things to get done at work.
System migration date is just around the corner.
Project pending at testing phase.
Lousy vendor.

But the things that bothers me the most is that Wimbledon Championships starts the same time as FIFA!!
It's super hard to focus on one football match without flipping the channel to watch the tennis on the gorgeous grass court!

Just to update that my boyfriend Roger Federer almost, I repeat, almost lost his 1st round match to Alajandro Falla from Columbia.
If you're not following Wimbledon, or tennis so to speak, never fear, because as usual, I am here!
Take note that :
  • Roger Federer is the current Wimbledon defending champion. (and has won it six-times)
  • This match was the opening match of this year's Wimbledon Championship.
  • Roger is the World No.1, while Alajandro is rank No. 65.
So, now you know why my mom and I were clinging to our seat, praying for Federer to get his groove back..

..because he lost the first set 5-7..

..and lost again in the second set 4-6..

..but managed to win the third set 6-4...

..then, was in near disaster to win the forth set with tie-break 7-6..

and finally, slammed down his opponent flat to the ground, with the final set 6-0 !!

Phewwww.. that was a close call..

Not just an icing

It's not just an icing cake..

..but it's cheese icing to be exact !
yummy..yummm..yumm....
Cheese Icing Recipe
  • 1 pack of cream cheese (300g and highly recommend to get the Philadelphia brand)
  • 1/2 pack of butter
  • 1 cup of icing sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence
  • a pinch of ginger and cinnamon powder
Stir using mixer from low to high speed, for about 5 minutes..

Just incase you're wondering the "cup" that I used for measurement, here she is, and oldie but goodie.
My mom most trusted 1980's pyrex cup.

And we are DONE !
Time to splat everything on the cake, as much as possible.. hehe

Ta-daaaaa !!

Happy Father's Day to Ayah, and Hubby !

Got this..

..for my dad..
..the Father's Day present.
It's a digital photo frame.
Hmm.. looks so neat.. maybe I should get one myself.

Not just an apple

It's not just an apple..

..I actually and successfully made an apple cake out of it !

From someone that could hardly differentiate a pot from a pan, this is an absolute HUGE deal for me !
Yup! So, here's the recap..
Apple Cake Recipe
  • 1 pack of butter (250g)
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
Mix everything in a bowl using the mixer..
  • 1 1/2 cup of flour
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
And add this bit by bit into the top mixture..
  • 3 apples, cut into small pieces
  • 1 pack of walnut, chopped (don't blend)
before..

..after

before..

..after

Slowly put them all into the mixer..

Lather the baking pan with butter to prevent the cake from sticking onto it.

Put the mixture onto the baking pan.

Baked at 160 degrees Celsius, for about 40 minutes.

And wallaaaaa !!

Leave it to cool down and nope, I'm not done yet !
Coming up next, the icing part... stay tuned...
