Don't you just love how this book looks like? The flower prints. You can definitely tell from far that this is Cath Kidston print.
But wait.
What does Cath Kidston doing in bookstore?
And at the Japanese book section, to be exact?

But so sorry coz I don't have anything personal to jot my thoughts down due to time constraint.
Been kinda busy this week.
However, that doesn't stop me from reading about them while commuting to/ fro work.

What’s a girl to do, in the face of modern society ripping itself apart at the seams?
Arm herself, of course.
I’m not talking about getting a gun or a knife.
No, those are dangerous and it takes time to fish one out from the bottom of your bag.
I’m talking about getting a handbag that can also be used in self-defense maneuvers of all kinds, so that if the apocalypse should rain down while you’re at the movies, you’ll be prepared to survive in the dystopian hellscape that you encounter when you leave.
Or, you know, you can use most of these bags to whack a mugger in the head.
But doesn’t the former somehow seem more likely than the latter lately?

Naturally, we couldn’t have this discussion at all without the Alexander McQueen Knuckle Duster Clutch.
This design is the original handbag-as-weapon, or perhaps it would be more accurate to call it a weapon-as-handbag. How you use this one should be obvious.

I'm kinda lost, at the moment

Have you ever had one of those days when you just feel lost?
Like, is this it?
Am I going to do this forever?
It's not actually 'bored' to be exact.
It's more like being lost.
Plain lost.

So, what actually did you do when you hit this moment of lost-ness?
Me?
Well, my first step in finding answers, was, basically using the nearest and closest thing to me - my iPhone4, and googled "Feel Lost".
Yeah, tell me how lame that was.
Hey, give me credit ok, for actually still able to think when hit by this lost mode.
Anywayyy, wow, being google, it came out with 202 million results.
Errkk.. this oughta kill my 'lost' time indeed!
So, since I was lost, I simply scroll down the list..
Found out that major links (those that appears on top of most commonly related to it), state that "feeling lost" is actually associated with depression.

Urrggghh.. ok.. now that sounds soooo serious and dangerous too.
Nope, I don't want to be in depression mode.
Coz, I am not really that depressed.
Ok.. continue scrolling google lists..
Flip a few pages, and walllllaaaahhh!!!

Hey, commuting back and forth to work is a workout routine, ok!

I had to walk to/ from the station, up/ down the stairs and not to mention standing for the rest of 18 minutes per journey.

I sweat doing that, you know.

Although not drenched in sweat, but still, healthy routines, right?

So what's next?

Hmm.. maybe I need to revamp my handbags collection?

Beware ! Bag snatchers on the road !

This post is dedicated to my dear friend G-ya, who were robbed while driving.
She was at the traffic light stop, at the intersection near Eastin Hotel junction, Sunday 6th March 2011, time 1300 hours.
As she was waiting for red traffic light to turn green, a motorcyclist came to her passenger side, smashed the side window and grabbed her handbag, which was initially placed on the passenger seat.
According to G-ya, she noticed this motorcycle from about a kilometre away and they honked while briefly overtaking.
But they slowed down and G-ya overtook them as they reached the traffic light.

It happened so quickly as the motorcycle appeared beside her car and his passenger was the one smashing the window with a rock and snatched the purse.
Even the car beside hers failed to notice the thieves.

Poor G-ya.
There's nothing that she can do at that time, because in reflex, she (and I believe anybody would too) turned her face away from the smashing glasses, making it impossible for her to get a good look on the thieves and the motorcycle plate.

I know that we've heard this incident several times before, but the truth is, only when it actually happened to ourselves/ loved ones, then we will start to be cautious and alert.

Therefore, before it's too late, reminder to all of us drivers, to place our handbags on the foot area instead of on the seat.
At least it will make it harder for the thieves to see and reached for it.

Due to my obsession with handbags, since the foot area is generally dirty due to it being our footwear placement, it is advisable to at least layered it up with a plastic bag.
Plastic bag is better than newspaper because newspaper prone to smudge your purse with the black printed ink.
This way we can protect our belongings, at the same time making sure it is clean too.

Hmm.. is it logic to keep a knife in the car, in case this incident happened, we could slash the thief's hand?
Or is that too cruel? huh!

Never say Neverfull

Ok.. you got me..
I told myself many many many times before that I will never get this flimsy tote.

It all started when I realised that for this whole week, I've been carrying my Coach Tribeca Tote, because it's just so spacious and I can dump everything but the kitchen sink in there.
I've been too busy lately, that I just didn't bother to switch handbags anymore.
I was so occupied with work load, that I have forgotten to even check if it matches my outfits, or not.
Not only for work, but the tote just suitable for dinner and outing with the kids too.
Well, lets just say that a bottomless-pit tote, is all that I need right now.

What difference does it make?

I'm putting myself on the stage here.
This is a very risky topic.
I know.
But, I just had to let it out.
I'm the open minded type.
The type that will speak out when I feel the need to.

I know this came too late.
I should have just fired it up at that particular instance.
But somehow my mind was too occupied with work at that time and just couldn't blurted out my come-back points.
A dear colleague of mine was carrying a fake Coach bag to work and somehow challenged me to identify the authenticity of it, right in front of everybody.
I'm not gonna elaborate what happened then, but now I realised I was being too polite to have kept my silence.

If I was given the chance to turn back the clock, I would have said;

"How do you feel about your 8 year old daughter working in a dirty-crowded factory, sleeping on the cold cement floor with other children, getting raped and molested, just for $60 bucks per month to sew and glue together fake luxury-brand handbags?"

No, I'm not making this up.
This is real.
This is what's behind the production of fake bags.
You don't have to go to Guangzhou to see it for yourself.
Just google it up and try to get it into your thick skull, that this is a serious matter.
Not just a gossip whispered from ear to ear.

Don't get me wrong, I am not implying that you have to eat oats daily, drink plain water, use clothes inherited from your siblings and wear flip flops to work, just to save thousands of dollars to buy a Coach handbag!
What I'm saying is, don't buy fakes! (and let alone be proud flaunting it!)

Even if it is a fake of non-luxury brand (such as Guess, Fossil or Quicksilver), it is still a FAKE!
And behind the productions for fake products are all the same!
Yes, not just fake handbags, even fake clothes, shoes, accessories and even CD/ DVD too!
They're all using children, underpaid, and the profit goes to funding crime syndicates.

Vinci, Nose, and Memory Lane crafts shop sells beautiful bags.
Even the pharmacy stores have cute canvas totes for about $9.90 on the shelf.
Why can't you just get that instead?
I know you must be feeling so thrilled of getting a beautiful fake bag that has the logo prints at $50, and maybe you feel like you will not give any impact at all to the counterfeit industries because after all, this was just one purchase.
But have you thought that what if everybody on earth thinks like you?
Wouldn't this increase the fakes 'supply-chain'?
So, when will it end?
It's more noble to just use the recycle grocery enviro bag, rather than carrying a fake.

No, I am not perfect either.
I bought a fake Coach bag in 2006, at a night market Batu Feringhi, Penang Island.
And I admit, at that time I was very naive and I didn't know about what's behind the productions of these fakes stuffs.
I'm not kidding, I really didn't know about it, nor did I bothered to google it either.
But what I remembered was that it lasted for only a month as the quality was very poor, and there went into the dustbin my $40 bucks fake Coach tote!  Yeah, it wasn't cheap either for a fake.

There you have it.
And since now you are a little smarter, and aware of what's behind all these, it's never too late to change!
Let's join forces to dry-up the supply-chain and drive the counterfeiters bankrupt!
Stop supporting fake bags!
We can make a difference!
