Such a cute name, aye?
Suits the place very much, with the pink-red-toned chequered tiles and table tops.

Apart from the lovely round delicious looking chicken mushroom pie, there's this large chicken turkey sliced sandwich, so huge that it must be the portion for 2 people!
No, QZ did not finish all of this by herself.. tapau it back to the office..

I don't know what to categorise this place as, because it serves both the western and local selections.
Fusion might best described it, then.
Gya opt for the classic lasagne.

While Nadz went traditionally with white rice and chicken curry.. ohh this curry was nice!!
And you'll be surprised to find there's actually sticky-rice durian served for dessert.

Note that we got FREE ice cream desserts for purchases more than RM40 !!
Woot Woot!!
Which we then chose the ice-cream-banana-wrap.

Conclusion, we're loving this place!

Fish and Squid for breakfast ??

Yup.
You heard that right.
It's deep fried fish and squid for breakfast, believe it !

My officemates and I would love to come here every morning, but only if we managed to get to the office before 8am, which in our case, very very rare.. hahaha

Best eat with roti canai on the banana leaves.
With teh tarik (milk tea), of course !

This must be one of the most unique things about Malaysia, our cuisines are just crazy.
Don't cha think so?

Hello readers!
Once again, I'm on my quest to blog as much about lunch-outing as possible.
These food pictures are flooding my iphone and my officemates are wondering why do I always snap pics when we're out lunch, but fail to blog about it instantly.
Sorry mates.  I'm slacking.  I know!

So, what's makes a restaurant famous?
Is it the food?
Is it the drinks?
Is it the ambiance?
Or is it the location?

This time, I think it must be due to the location.

Located in Bangsar.
Located at the exact spot of the old Devi's Corner.
Located at a corner lot area, impossible not to pass by it, in this small crowded Bangsar area.
Chawan is the name.
And I just don't get what the fuss is about this place anyway.

Asam laksa, which Nadz discovered that the junks were too much inside it.
Making it a hassle to eat.

Briyani rice with chicken, that Skin and Zie rated as so-so.

Lontong..
This one, at first I liked it, but after a few bites, it sort of felt too much on the coconut milk.

Maybe I can just give the credits to the drinks.
The ice blended coffee and the tripple layer frappé did impressed us.

Or maybe it's just the heat?
Hmm..
Being in Bangsar zone, I would say it's such a hefty price to pay for a typical kopitiam so-so standard.

I can't help it ! I bought TWO ..dot..dot..dot..

This post is dedicated for all those wondering about the recent Valiram sale as mentioned in previous post.
First sight at the hall main entrance, was this poster.

We were lining up at the hall as early as 10am.
As soon as the door opened half and hour later, we immediately rushed to the COACH sections, of course, what else.. yeah..

I saw the sign

I see signs everyday.

I'm sure you do too.

 Not only because I commute to work..

..that I get to see this everyday of the week..

..while queuing to board the train..

..while standing patiently, waiting for my destination..

..and while waiting for the building lift to go up to the office.

I'm sure you've seen all those signs before.

They are very common indeed.

And you can simply google to see weird/ funny signs around the world.

As for me, I found this directly from the staircase of the office! 

 Plain weirdo? Or purely funny?

Whiteboard attack!

That's what happened when my kids got to the office.

They spend the whole half hour standing in front of the white board, and having fun with the black, red and blue markers.

Freely expressing whatever that came to mind.

Such fun being a kid, aye?

Beware ! Bag snatchers on the road !

This post is dedicated to my dear friend G-ya, who were robbed while driving.
She was at the traffic light stop, at the intersection near Eastin Hotel junction, Sunday 6th March 2011, time 1300 hours.
As she was waiting for red traffic light to turn green, a motorcyclist came to her passenger side, smashed the side window and grabbed her handbag, which was initially placed on the passenger seat.
According to G-ya, she noticed this motorcycle from about a kilometre away and they honked while briefly overtaking.
But they slowed down and G-ya overtook them as they reached the traffic light.

It happened so quickly as the motorcycle appeared beside her car and his passenger was the one smashing the window with a rock and snatched the purse.
Even the car beside hers failed to notice the thieves.

Poor G-ya.
There's nothing that she can do at that time, because in reflex, she (and I believe anybody would too) turned her face away from the smashing glasses, making it impossible for her to get a good look on the thieves and the motorcycle plate.

I know that we've heard this incident several times before, but the truth is, only when it actually happened to ourselves/ loved ones, then we will start to be cautious and alert.

Therefore, before it's too late, reminder to all of us drivers, to place our handbags on the foot area instead of on the seat.
At least it will make it harder for the thieves to see and reached for it.

Due to my obsession with handbags, since the foot area is generally dirty due to it being our footwear placement, it is advisable to at least layered it up with a plastic bag.
Plastic bag is better than newspaper because newspaper prone to smudge your purse with the black printed ink.
This way we can protect our belongings, at the same time making sure it is clean too.

Hmm.. is it logic to keep a knife in the car, in case this incident happened, we could slash the thief's hand?
Or is that too cruel? huh!

Sucker for Mieng Kam

Who?
Nope, it's not a person, but it's a food.
Well, although, I am a person that loves it.
It is a thai-snack to be exact which we'll take it as an appetizer.
Consists of cha plu leaves (daun kadok), dried shrimp, lemon, onions, ginger, chilli, roasted peanuts, coconuts, and the uttermost secret ingredient is the delicious-sweet-sour paste!

How to eat it?
Simple, just put a little bit of everything onto the leaves, fold the leaves, put the leaves into mouth and munch.

I could eat this whole day, seriously!
It's like a mixture of all flavours at once.
And the place that introduced me to this, is none other than, Basil.

Located inside Bangsar Village, very convenient for us to visit often.
Just for the record, this was our 24th November 2010 luncheon.

It is a Thai cuisine, serving spicy Tom Yam and all, but I'm rating the Tom Yam here as so-so, coz for me, Phai Lin is the best.
That reminds me, I should make a review of it.. hmm..

Only the Fish that matters

This whole week, I'm dedicating my afternoon post for my officemates as I owed them tons and tons of luncheon pictures.  Sorry gurls for the delay but, heck, better late than never, aye?

Date : 10th October 2010 (try to ignore this will ya.. hehe)
Location : Tangling Food Court, near the KL Bird Park - Bukit Aman Police HQ.
Famously known as Tangling Ikan Bakar, this is the ultimate place to go if you're seeking for the best grilled fish in town.

It's an open space food court sitting - well, logically it has to be opened space due to the grilling smokes.
Do take note that it's rather hot eating here - terms applied to both the location and the sambals for the fish/ seafood.
Also only come here if you are willing to end up smelling like smoke afterwards, coz like it or not, the smell sticks to you like glue.
And when 10 gorgeous-properly-dressed-to-work-ladies actually came here to lunch, taking the risk of getting our faces oily and our clothes stuck with smokes-smell, you darn well should believe that it was worth it !

The rest of the pictures are kinda messy - again, terms applied to both the feast we're having and ourselves.. LOL.
So, I'm gonna just collage them pics, to make it look good, ok.. hehe..

Hmm.. editing all this pictures sure makes me longing for that grilled stingray with sambal asam..

They have been very annoyed with me snapping pics each time we're out lunching but the pics never made it out of my iphone!
Yeah, sorry mates.. you know how busy I am these days..
Anyway, I'm making it up to them with this post.

Venue : Kokopelli Travellers Bistro
Time : 12noon-ish

QZ was the one who introduced us to this place.
Actually, we already came here a week before the fasting month, but unfortunately it was already closed for the Ramadhan period.
Hence today, QZ made the effort to call in advance, to confirm on the opening.

It is located at Section 14/ 46 Petaling Jaya, near the Masjid "Bulat" Seksyen 14.
It looks just like any ordinary single storey bungalow with no huge signboards or whatsoever notice board on the gate nor on the side walk.
Only written on the front door.
I bet this place looks stunning during the night because the lamps here are really dazzling.

First things first, although they're only two customers in the bistro, we decided to quickly order the food, in case it took some time to prepare.

First impression counts, and I have to say, the menu is not impressive at all.

It is made of just plain white A4 paper , in black prints, not even coloured.

But as I look closely, the menu uses creative words with a homely touch.

The walls, ceilings, tablecloth are all in white, making the place stands exquisitely well with the chairs' red cushions and table décor. 

There's not a single plain wall in sight as all of them are filled with picture frames, paintings, art work and decorative mirrors.

 

There is this full size book shelves located right next to the dining area filled with books, encyclopaedias, and all sorts of decorations that makes you feel just like home!

Seriously I'm telling ya, this place is awesome!

And I'm not talking about the food yet.

I just couldn't sit still, and decided to roam around the house which then I stumbled into this room, where you can have private dining for 10 people, in case you want to celebrate birthdays here.

There's a mini kitchen area, for making drinks, which I love the way they decorate it with colourful bottles.

Yup, this place could be an inspiration for you in home-decor, as mostly, I believe are Ikeas anyways.

You must order this drink, it is called "Leaving on a jet plane".

Yes, it is a song title, an old song to be exact, written by Jon Denver in year 1966, and used in Armageddon movie.

This mocktail is a mixture of soda, citrus lime, papaya and has the tinge sweetness of pineapple.

It came as yellowish shade but you need to stir it up, mix them all and bam, it turns red!

I know, I'm soooooo lame at this stuffs, it just amazes me everytime! LOL!

The drinks came in less than 5 minutes, which to my record, that is superrrrr quick indeed.

Clockwise from top left is another mocktail called "Fly me to the moon" (which I believe a combination of soda, and citrus lime only because it doesn't carry that much flavour as the "Leaving on a jet plane" if I must say so myself), warm water (yes, it comes in perfect warm temperature, serves in a clear bottle - according to QZ, it's Ikea's too), hot chocolate (got my "A" certified choco taste) and mocha latte (sorry, it's too bitter for my tongue, I'm giving it a "C" in my coffee rating)

Now lets move on to the food, shall we.

For a fusion concept, the food were served awesomely quick, and it tasted no less than average!

Clockwise from top left is the seafood olio (love it! and reminder, please make sure to specifically mentioning the word "non-spicy" because this Malaysian owner bistro will by default serves it with cili padi !! ), beef mee-soup (nicely flavoured indeed!), fried kuew teow (sorry ladies, it tasted just so-so.. nothing special in my record), pizza (ohmygod this is delicious! it's cooked to perfection, definitely the best home made pizza ever tasted!), beef roasted pasta (another wow - on the food, not the person :p ), caesar salad (ohhhh I loveeeee this!) and the last one is the potato skin filling (or as Gya put it, begedil)

We had a blast passing around the plates and savour each others dishes, like always.

And it felt like extra special this time due to the fancy looking plates and bowls.

We end our lunch with a special dessert called the trifle, which consists of layers of cake, custard, blueberries, jelly, and whipped cream.

  

I managed to snap more pics of the décor while making our way out after that.

It really surprises me that there still exists such picnic luggage bag, that mostly seen in the older "English" movies.

The bistro owner also displayed seasonal items, which at this time, it was the halloween.

It indeed feels like home.

And once we're out, nope, it's not over yet.

We then scout the outer premise and gawk at the splashes of paints on the table, floor, and walls.

It's so simple yet very creative.

The discovery of the day is "pokok burung".

I have never seen this in my entire life, but let me tell ya, it really does look like a tiny bird living inside the petal... amazing, yet soooo creepy! 

I tried googling it, but couldn't find the scientific name. Let me know if you do.

We were so intrigued with taking pics of everything about Kokopelli, that we end up with crappy pics of ourselves.. Bummer! I know!

Oh well, at least we had fun, didn't we? hehe..
