A day trip down south..

..to Singapore.
Yeah, this is an old news.
I forgot to blog about it earlier.
Oh well, better late than never, huh?
It was a last minute decision to just make a trip down south, over the weekend.
We drove down to JB on the night of 25th June 2010.
First time taking advantage of hubby's relatives in JB and crashing over their place for the night.
We parked the car at the terminal and went on foot into Singapore.
Took the bus, then the train.
And then on foot.
Seriously, it was indeed an adventure !
Our first and the only target was Takashimaya.
We were indeed lucky because on that very day, it was the Toy Story 3 movie promo.
There were appearances by the movie characters, Woody and Buzz..
And toys were on crazy discounts.
Yes, I was more excited than the kids.. obviously!
We headed back to JB by 7pm and yeah, that was it, really.
Conclusion:
  • Kids stuffs such as toys and branded clothing lines are cheaper in Singapore during this Great Singapore Sale, compared to Malaysia.
  • Adult branded clothing lines such as Guess, Gap, etc are also cheaper in Singapore compared to Malaysia.
  • Food, more expensive.
  • Other branded stuffs like handbags, shoes, leather goods, are more expensive.
  • Malaysian customs imposed tax on the toys bought by us.. although we kept telling them it's for the boys and not that we're selling them or anything and duhhhh, they're just in two Takashimaya paperbags!! Not a whole truckload!! We were charged RM30.
  • Next time, bring stroller ! We decided not to coz we thought it's gonna be difficult to load it up onto the bus/ train but really, it's not that hard.  Carrying Arif around was a pure pain.  So, yeah, just take the damnnn stroller next time, ok, huney!!!

Amin's fasting attempt

Update :
Amin managed to fast till 3pm !!
With cracked dry lips and tired eyes, he break-fast with plain water, then milk and then soup.
He was actually more thirsty than hungry.
So, yippeeee for him !
Mommy soo proud of you dear!!
Slow and steady.. slow and steady..

************************

Today is the beginning of the Ramadhan, the fasting month for the muslim all around the world.
We started the day with Sahur, filling up the belly at 5am.
Amin is 6yrs old this year and he's so excited to puasa (fasting) as all of his kindy-mates have been talking about it, and the teachers are teaching and encouraging them too.
He woke up after just one-time shake from me.
He was indeed very sleepy, but managed to open his mouth to chew the rice.
Menu for this morning is rice with marinated lamb and fried bean sprouts.
I'm gonna tell teacher to train him for fasting but just ask him at noon if he's hungry or not.
It's not compulsory for him anyway.
But I'm so proud of his intention.
Let's just see how it works out today..

Lets do lunch, while we still can

In the event of counting down to Ramadhan in a few more days, we decided that it's a must to go out for lunch today, while we still can.
So, the initial destination was Kokopelli at section 14, but unfortunately it was closed, so, there goes my review on it.  Hence, we headed out to Amcorp Mall for a traditional lunch menu at Sri Melaka.
The place was a complete full, as expected since we arrived there at 1.35pm.
But kudos to the restaurant for the speedy serving.
It's amazing that they're able to cook our spicy fried prawns, kailan with garlic, and the fried bean curd soup (I can't remember the exact name)
The dishes were absolutely delicious that we decided to forgive the restaurant for the delay in serving the drinks.
Special pose from Zie and QZ.

Happy Ramadhan, everybody !!

Never say Neverfull

Ok.. you got me..
I told myself many many many times before that I will never get this flimsy tote.
Louis Vuitton Neverfull in Monogram.
But lately, I've been putting a lot of thoughts to it.
Yeah, I know.. I know..
Almost all Linda, Jane, Sally, Nur and Siti owns this.
Louis Vuitton Neverfull in Damier Ebene.
It's like flooding Neverfull in KL nowadays.
But I just can't get it out of my head !
Louis Vuitton Neverfull in Damier Azur.
It all started when I realised that for this whole week, I've been carrying my Coach Tribeca Tote, because it's just so spacious and I can dump everything but the kitchen sink in there.
I've been too busy lately, that I just didn't bother to switch handbags anymore.
I was so occupied with work load, that I have forgotten to even check if it matches my outfits, or not.
Not only for work, but the tote just suitable for dinner and outing with the kids too.
Well, lets just say that a bottomless-pit tote, is all that I need right now.
Louis Vuitton Cosmic Blossom Tote
It looks great on Hillary Duff..
.. and on Nicky Hilton..
Wonder if it'll look good on me?
But I've heard so many complaints about the thin shoulder strap digging into the flesh.
Hmm... what do you think?  Let me know if it's true, ok?

A fruitful outing

My boys are indeed full of surprises.
Instead of jumping up and down pulling me towards Toys"R"Us, they opt for Kinokuniya.
We spent an hour browsing through books.
Especially those with sounds and pop-ups.
Thank god the kids section ain't that big.
Or else, I might be working out sweat chasing after them.
Nope, in this case, mommy doesn't mind at all with spending $$.
Coz I'm really hoping that they will pick up hubby's trait..
and that is loves reading.
 Coz mommy doesn't !

Dangerously sweet

My sis-in-law loves to buy cupcakes.
And her favourite is none other that Wondermilk.
She will drive to Uptown, Petaling Jaya, just to get it.
And for the taste of it, nope, I'm not complaining at all ;)
Especially for the chocolate cupcakes.. yummyyyy....
But honestly, I think I could die from the sweetening..
..with the sweet icing and the sweet dough mixture..
..they're way wayyy wayyyyy too sweet.
They also have a slightly smaller size cupcake, that still tastes the same..
I guess it must be some kind marketing plan or whatsoever..
..coz it works wonders on Arif !

Flowery Feet

I don't have a supermodel feet..
..but this footwear could easily grab the attention.
Aren't they adorable?? hehehe..
I almost forgot that I have this Birkenstock sandals.
Maybe it's about time I do some spring cleaning on the shoes, huh?

Turkish Cookies !! Yiippeee !!

I've been looking for this, for the past two years !
Yes, TWO whole freaking years !!
An ex-schoolmate of mine used to make this for fun but she completely stop after delivering her first baby.
Since then I have been wondering aimlessly for it.
Until a week ago, my friend Ie called me up to spill me the good news.
She found somebody else making the same cookie!
And making it A LOT !
As in, for business !
Ohhhhhh you just cannot imagine how happy I was to hear that.
It's like a dream came true !
No, I have NEVER promoted cookies in my life.
But for this, I really have to tell.

Why?
Because, my dear readers, this is not just an ordinary cookie.
Oh no it is not.
I'm telling ya, it is not an easy cookie to make.
This is TURKISH COOKIE we are talking about.
It is NOT a tiny ordinary cookie.
It is NOT a thin flimsy ordinary cookie.
And most important, it is NOT empty on the inside!
Yes, it has chocolate fillings!
But wait, it is NOT an ordinary chocolate either, it's HAZELNUT blended chocolate fillings!!
And now you know why I'm going ga-ga over this.
Crunchy on the outside.. and melted hazelnut-chocolate on the inside..
No way, I am not gonna serve this to my guest during Eid celebrations.
This is for ME and only ME !
Ohhh sooo yummyyy !!

Another love story

Tonight we watched Dear John.

Since I was a sucker for The Notebook, I said to hubby, "Ok.. why not.. lets watch"
After all, this movie is from the same best selling author, Nicholas Sparks.
This romantic drama/war film stars Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried. It was released on February 5, 2010. Directed by Lasse Hallström, the film is an adaptation of Nicholas Sparks's novel of the same name.

It follows the life of a soldier (Channing Tatum) after he falls in love with a young woman (Amanda Seyfried). They decided to exchange letters to each other after he is deployed to the war.
Kinda like a long distance relationship.. and over a long period of time too..

But the thing I got to learn from this movie is that about the love between a son and his father,  and the care for autism, which both are hardly to come by in movies.
If you think all love story is predictable, well guess again..
This one is different.
The unselfishness and the forgiveness are rather acceptable.
And of course, no need to predict, yes I cried too.
